I recently completed my Padi advanced open water course with Scuba Dive Costa Rica and could not have been more pleased with my experience. From the beginning, the friendly staff made me feel comfortable and like I was apart of the team. I met Phil, the owner, upon arrival and he filled me in on how the course would play out over the next two days. The first day my dive instructor Lacy, did an excellent job of making my adventure dives interesting and enjoyable. On the second day during my more intensive coursework, my dive instructor Risky, (his name is ironic because diving with him is anything but Risky) could not have been a better instructor when prepping and teaching me the necessary skills required for my deep and underwater navigation dives. The interns were fantastic as well. Scuba Dive Costa Rica is a 10/10 would recommend.
Took my advanced with Costa Rica Divers with a tight timeframe in mind. Phil was very responsive via email, and worked around my dates. Great divemasters and instructors, patient and knowledgable about the dive sites. Perfect time of year to dive, warm water great visibility. Humpbacks during a surface interval, Lots of different fish species and an epic encounter with some very friendly Manta Rays! Pricing was a little higher than other shops, but having their own boat and excellent captain meant decisions were made each day to best suit the divers, a big plus.
We went to Tamarindo in November 2019 for 1 week and got Advanced open water certified with Scuba Dive Costa Rica in Playa Flamingo while we were there. Phil was very responsive and helpful with all of my questions leading up to the trip. Jose and the team were great and made our certification very safe and enjoyable. Would highly recommend this company if you’re staying near the Guanacaste coast area.
From humpback whales to eagle rays and giant sea turtles to white tip reef sharks, what an amazing week of dives! I did my advanced open water with the superb team at this great outfit! Alvaro Ilan was a great dive instructor for my advanced open water and a great dive master overall! The navigation dive was hard given conditions but he pushed me to do it right, and I did. The whole team at Scuba Dive Costa Rica exhibits a high standard of professionalism, and they are great fun to dive with too! I can’t wait to go back! Excellent service and instruction.
When choosing a company to dive with the only things I really considered was where the dive site was and how the photographs on the websites looked. The diving here is amazing and you'll see interesting things regardless of which company you dive with. However, what I hadn't anticipated was the energy , the professionalism and the incredible vibe that Phil's company has. The team feels like a real family of kind, helpful people with infectious enthusiasm. It's an experience beyond just simple diving and one I would recommend to everybody looking to dive in this region and Costa Rica in general. There's a real sense that the instructors care about you and your experience, they are proud of what they do and where they do it and it really rubs off on you. There was one day where the company was fully booked and I had to dive with another in the area, the other company was great and professional but it was obvious to me then how much Phil's company and instructors add. It was a good dive but it wasn't the intimate, attention to detail, in the safest of hands dive. In conclusion, book here and you won't regret it. For me it was a life changing experience I hadn't expected and I'm already trying to plan my next trip back. Thank you Phil, Risky, Dana, Alex and all of the other guys! X
