Phil runs a great team of enthusiastic dedicated divers. Great International group, awesome location. Phil is quick to reply to emails and on top of his correspondence. enjoy the beautiful dive sites.
I did my open water certification with Risky. A great guy and an even better instructor. His big experience makes you feel very comfortable at any moment. I had a great time and would definitely recommend scuba dive costa rica!!

10/10!!!! Phil and his whole team are so friendly and incredibly accommodating. I did my open water certification and it just so happened that I was in Tamarindo during one of their days off. Phil was super accommodating and scheduled me in, squeezing in my training to make sure I could be certified!
As for logistics, I was staying in Tamarindo, and Phil had Jose pick me up ~6:30am to 7am every morning and drive me 30 min to the dive shop, which shares space with a sail club. The team sets up everything for you, and you leave for the dive site ~8:00 - 8:30am. Tanks are filled to 200-220 bar so you have plenty of air to dive for awhile :) they also have cookies and pineapple onboard for a snack in between dives. The waves at Las Catalinas can be pretty rocky, so highly recommend taking seasickness medicine, quite a few people on the boat got seasick. But the people who took Dramamine were fine. Tons of fish and good stuff to see - on my dives, I saw a whale shark and two manta rays!!
During my time there (July 2019), they had a bunch of interns there who were super friendly and fun. I stayed an extra day and came back to dive because the team was so professional and had a great vibe. Definitely come here to dive if you’re deciding between places!!
Thanks Phil, Alvaro, Dana, Alex, Taylor, and Capi!! Y’all were amazing :)
Absolutely an amazing and wonderful experience!

I did the open water PADI certification with Phil and Lacy - absolutely great instructors. They took the time to provide very good briefings so that I always knew what was coming and what to expect. I then continued on to do the Advanced course with Risky and he was also a great instructor. The whole team was incredibly friendly and on the whole just awesome people.
Aside from scuba, the location itself on surfside (Playa Potrero) is very nice. Some pretty good places to have a drink and get inexpensive (but delicious) food. The beach was also great, no hidden rocks, just fun floating. I'm very glad I decided to do scuba here and would highly recommend them to anyone thinking about learning to scuba or just doing a fun dive.
